Quick Start

Connect Your Onn Box to Wi‑Fi
  1. Open the Onn Box Settings.
  2. Press the settings button on the upper-right side of the remote control. Look for the gear icon.
  3. When the right-side menu appears, select All Settings.
  4. Go to Network & Internet.
  5. Select your Wi‑Fi network name, then enter your password to connect.
Add Your Gmail Account
  1. Customized boxes may be logged into a generic account during setup.
  2. Add your own Google/Gmail account to personalize YouTube, save likes and recommendations, and use apps that require account access.
  3. Go to Onn Box Settings > Accounts & Profiles > Add an account.
  4. Follow the screen prompts to complete login.
Program the Onn Remote to Control Your TV or Soundbar
  1. Go to Onn Box Settings.
  2. Select Remotes & Accessories > Set up remote buttons > Add device.
  3. Search for the brand of your TV and/or soundbar.
  4. Follow the prompts to set up the Onn remote to control your device.
Change the Device Name of Your Onn Box
  1. This is helpful if you have multiple devices on your home network or want a custom name inside your TV inputs.
  2. Go to Onn Box Settings > System > About > Device Name.
  3. Enter the new device name and save.
Update Your Onn Remote Control
  1. The Onn remote may require updates from time to time.
  2. When you see an update notification, press the settings icon on the remote.
  3. Scroll down on the dashboard and select Update the Remote.

Account, Expiration Date & Renewal

View Your Expiration Date, Username & Password
  1. Please be aware of your service expiration date.
  2. Service may disconnect on the expiration date if the package is not renewed beforehand.
  3. Payments should be made at least 24–48 hours before expiration to avoid interruption.
  4. Please allow up to 24 hours for payments to post.
  5. Open the Mac Smart TV app and press the Back Arrow button until you reach the main menu.
  6. Open Settings at the bottom of the app.
  7. Go to Playlists > select your current playlist > Xtream Code Parameters.
  8. Scroll down to view your username, password, and expiration date.
Make Payments & Renew Monthly Service
  1. Payments can be made directly to your rep via Cash App or Venmo when available.
  2. You can also pay online with credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or ACH using the Mac Smart TV bill-pay page.

  4. After making a payment, message your rep so they know payment has been made.
  5. Payment notifications may be delayed by vendors, so messaging your rep helps prevent service interruption.

Important App Settings for Best Experience

Change App Buffer Size
  1. Changing buffer size may reduce in-app buffering by loading more channel data when a channel is selected.
  2. Go to Mac Smart TV Settings > Playback > Buffer Size.
  3. Change buffering size to Large, or Very Large if your internet speed is strong.
Double Click Back to Exit App
  1. This prevents accidentally exiting the app when pressing the back button.
  2. Go to General and enable Confirm Exit by Second Press Back.
Auto Update the EPG / TV Guide
  1. Go to EPG and change Update Interval, Hours from 24 to 2.
  2. Enable Update on App Start.
  3. Enable Update on Playlist Change.
Auto Update Playlist
  1. The playlist controls channel selection and the app connection to servers.
  2. Go to Playlists > select current playlist.
  3. Change Update interval, hours from 24 to 2.
  4. Enable Update on App Start.

Optional App Personalization

Channel Sorting
  1. Go to Appearance > TV Guide > Channel Sorting.
  2. Sort channels by Playlist Order, Name, Date Added, or Watch Time.
  3. You can also show favorite channels first in category lists.
Expand Channel Names & Program Titles
  1. Go to Appearance > TV Guide.
  2. Enable Two-line Channel Names to show more channel title information.
  3. Enable Two-line Program Titles to show more program title information.
Clean Up Channel Names
  1. Go to Appearance > TV Guide > Channel Names Editor.
  2. Turn the editor ON and choose prefixes or suffixes to remove.
  3. Examples include USA, US|, [US], US:, CA:, UK:, MC:, 24/7, (USA), FHD, UHD, and SD.
More Display Options
  1. Remove numbers in front of channel lists by turning OFF Show Channel Numbers.
  2. Add a clock by going to Appearance > Player > Info Panel and turning ON Clock.
  3. Change background, accent, and selection colors in Appearance > Color Theme.

Favorites, Multi-View & Channel History

Add a Single Channel to Favorites
  1. While watching a channel in full-screen mode, long-press the middle select button.
  2. When the bottom menu appears, scroll right and click Add to Favorites.
  3. The star highlights to confirm the channel was added.
Add Multiple Channels to Favorites
  1. Inside the EPG menu, open a category.
  2. Long-press the middle select button until the right-side menu appears.
  3. Select Manage Favorites.
  4. Highlight the stars next to multiple channels, then press Back to exit.
Watch Multiple Screens at Once
  1. Multi-View lets you watch multiple channels at the same time.
  2. Long-press the middle select button until the bottom menu appears.
  3. Scroll to Multiview, press OK, then select Add Screen.
  4. The number of screens depends on your package’s number of connections.
View or Clear Channel History
  1. In full-screen mode, quick-press the middle select button.
  2. Channel History appears so you can select a previous channel or clear the list.
  3. You can change recent channel count in Settings > Appearance > Player > History / Recent Channels.

Sports, Pay-Per-View & VOD Tips

Tips for Sports & Major Events
  1. Watch games or events inside the specific sport categories whenever possible.
  2. Events may load at or slightly before the scheduled start time.
  3. If an event has not started or is already over, content may not load.
  4. Sports may also be available through local or national broadcast categories when available.
  5. Backup feeds can help if one source has issues.
Search Movies or Shows in VOD
  1. VOD categories are listed under the Mac Smart TV main menu as Movies and Shows.
  2. Search only checks the category currently highlighted on the left-side menu.
  3. To search the full library, select ALL first, then use the magnifying-glass search icon.

Categories, Groups & Channel Management

Block or Hide Category Groups
  1. Set up Parental Controls first if blocking categories.
  2. Go to Parental Controls, turn it ON, set a 4-digit PIN, and write it down.
  3. To hide a group, highlight the category, long-press select, and choose Hide Group.
  4. To restore groups, go to Settings > Playlists > select playlist > Manage Groups > TV.
Create a New Category Group
  1. Inside the EPG menu, long-press the middle select button.
  2. Select Create Group and enter your new group name.
  3. Example: create a group named Local Favorites or Sports Favorites.
Copy or Move Channels
  1. Highlight a channel in the EPG guide.
  2. Long-press the middle select button and choose Copy Channels.
  3. Select the channel and destination group, then choose Copy or Move.
Hide or Block a Specific Channel
  1. To hide a channel, highlight it in the EPG guide and long-press select.
  2. Choose Manage Visibility, then hide the channel.
  3. To block a channel, choose Block Channel and enter your parental control PIN.

Catch-Up, Playlist Management & Recording

Use Catch-Up
  1. Some channels show a clock icon in the TV guide. That means Catch-Up may be available.
  2. Catch-Up works like a built-in DVR for select channels, allowing past programming, pause, and rewind.
  3. In full-screen mode, press left select to open the left-side menu, then browse past programming.
  4. To return to live TV, open controls and select LIVE.
Manually Reorder Channels
  1. Inside a group category in the EPG, highlight the desired channel.
  2. Long-press the middle select button and select Reorder Channels.
  3. Move the channel to the desired position and click select to set it in place.
Manage Playlists
  1. Manually update all playlists by going to Settings > Playlists > Update All Playlists.
  2. Update one playlist by going to Settings > Playlists > select playlist > Update Playlist.
  3. To load a new playlist, go to Settings > Playlists > Add Playlist, enter login information, and click Next.
  4. Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.
Recording on Onn 4K Pro
  1. Recording is recommended only with the Onn 4K Pro model and works best with an external hard drive.
  2. Filling device storage can make the box run slowly or cause connection issues.
  3. In full-screen mode, quick-press select to bring up controls, then choose Record.
  4. In EPG, highlight a program, long-press select, and choose Record or Custom Recording.

Mobile App & Bonus Apps

Watch on Android Phone or Tablet
  1. Ask your rep for the correct download link or app instructions.
  2. If Google flags an app, review the warning carefully before installing.
  3. Enter playlist login information exactly as provided because usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.
Watch on iPhone
  1. Use a compatible player app from the Apple App Store.
  2. Choose the Xtream Codes option when available.
  3. Enter any name, your username, your password, and the playlist URL provided by your rep.

Troubleshooting Guide

If You Have Buffering or Connection Issues
  1. Try another device on the same channel if your package includes multiple connections.
  2. If both devices buffer the same way at the same time, it could be a source issue.
  3. If one device works and another does not, the issue is likely local network or device-related.
  4. Restart your router or modem by unplugging it for two minutes, then reconnecting.
  5. Restart your streaming media device by unplugging it for at least one minute.
Common Local Network Issues
  1. Weak or unreliable internet connection.
  2. Older modem, router, or streaming device.
  3. Not enough free space on the device.
  4. ISP modem/router security settings may interfere with streaming.
  5. Using your own quality modem/router equipment can improve reliability and may reduce monthly rental fees.
EPG Says No Information
  1. This may happen if the Onn Box lacks storage space to download guide files.
  2. Go to Onn Settings > System > Storage > Internal Shared Storage.
  3. Check available free space and remove unused apps or recordings if needed.
Power Outage Fix
  1. Unplug the Onn Box from power for 2–3 minutes.
  2. Plug it back in and allow it to power up.
  3. Go to Settings > Network & Internet and reconnect to your network if needed.
App Will Not Open on Onn Box
  1. Open Onn Settings using the gear icon.
  2. Select All Settings.
  3. Go to Apps > Special App Access > Display Over Other Apps.
  4. Toggle the Mac Smart TV app OFF and then back ON.
  5. Go back to Settings > System > Restart.
  6. After restart, reconnect to internet and open the app again.
Report a Problem
  1. Text or contact your rep with your name, device type, package, channel/category, and issue description.
  2. Service issues may take time to verify and address.
  3. Please allow up to 24 hours for reported errors to be reviewed when needed.

  5. Quick-press Back to go to EPG / TV Guide.
  6. Long-press Back to return to full-screen mode or exit program view.
